Beginning of Wisdom

As I sit here at my kitchen table this afternoon I noticed something about myself. I did not once turn on the television. When I arrived home I intermediately started to work on my lesson for tomorrow. This was unusual for me  because after a long day at work I am so exhausted that all I want to  do is watch a little TV and chill on the couch.  Things will happen in your life that will make you start to prioritize you responsibilities differently because of investing in your well being. I’ve learned over the past few months that if I invest a little more time in my career it will pay off in my life and I will have less stress.  So, If I want my students to invest more time in their work I’m going to have to invest more time in my preparation of the work.

Proverbs 4:6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you;
    love her, and she will watch over you.
The beginning of wisdom is this: Get[a] wisdom.
    Though it cost all you have,[b] get understanding.

Another topic of wisdom is definitely looking for clues or ques in your relationship and/or marriage. I’ve been married almost 20 years. It has been and is wonderful.  I would even say it is my husband is perfect for me. Our marriage isn’t perfect because we aren’t perfect.  I’ve seen many couples who been together forever but I’m sure their marriage had to do some settling; just like a house or building. When we look at a building or a house we usually can’t see the imperfections because we are looking at the whole building and we are not inspecting piece by piece. Same with a marriage many times you can’t see the issues because they’ve either resloved.

A marriage that is good is built on a foundation that is solid. It may have been shaken but it stood the storm.  It truly looks good and maybe wonderful overall but it did not survive without trials.  I’ve realized that anyone can get married but a great marriage pexels-photo-208397.jpegtakes work.  Yes, work. You have to put off your own selfish desires and take on the needs of your spouse. This can be difficult because of the flesh but with help of the holy spirit you hold on the the goal of fulfilling the desire of your mates heart. I would say that all good marriage have a common denominator; God.

Do not forsake wisdom is so profound because wisdom has me on this keyboard, investing in my career, students, family, husband and future.

talent pours out of my fingers

exposes me to my fears

leaps across the page

and shares with all that hears

Jesus paid the wage

If nothing else I should give him the praise.
